Punch Up Thanksgiving at JP's "Cranberry Slam"

Cranberry sauce is often the butt of Thanksgiving jokes, but, armed with the right recipe, these tart little fruits can become the star of the table. Local food lovers will be able to pick up great new recipes for their Thanksgiving table while supporting Massachusetts farmers at the Egleston Farmers Market “Cranberry Slam,” on Saturday, November 23, from 10am-2pm.

Boston’s first ever “Cranberry Slam” is the vision of farmer Jim Buckle, potter/fermentation activist Jeremy Ogusky, and Egleston Farmers Market manager, Kate Peppard. “We were talking about the sad state of cranberry farming in Massachusetts and started brainstorming about how we could support local berry farmers.  We decided to create a community event that showcases unique cranberry dishes designed by local chefs that you can easily make at home,” Peppard said.

The Cranberry Slam will feature chef demonstrations on the hour at 11am, noon, and 1pm. Recipes and ingredients will be available at the market, including bags of locally-grown, non-GMO cranberries. Participating chefs include:
• Geoff Lucas, Chef de Cuisine at Sofra, Cambridge
• Dave Becker, Owner & Chef at Sweet Basil, Needham
• Eric Cooper, Executive Chef at Ten Tables, JP
