Police Warn South Street Residents to Keep Windows Locked

District E-13 police are investigating a string of break-ins in the area.

Police are telling residents of South Street to keep their windows closed and locked after they’ve discovered a string of break-ins and thefts in the area.

“We, at District E-13, have discovered a pattern of three young black males, teens, entering through windows during the early to mid evening, sometimes just reaching in and stealing a laptop or other items, in the South Street area,” according to an Aug. 29 blog post on Neighbors for Neighbors, a local neighborhood blog site.

What follows in the post is a list of tips to keep homes secure, including trimming shrubs near windows and clearing lawn chairs, tables or anything that might allow a thief better access to windows.
