JP Man Says He Didn't Know He Was Dragging Girlfriend

Daniel Rodriguez of Jamaica Plain is charged with dragging his girlfriend out the door of his car along North and Federal streets in Salem in December 2011.

The attorney defending a man accused of dragging his girlfriend by the foot along Salem streets is arguing the driver didn't know she was there. Daniel Rodriguez, 23, of 250 Hyde Park Ave. #2 in Jamaica Plain was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and battery, unarmed robbery and operating after revocation on Dec. 29, 2011, but he fled the scene - North and Federal streets - and wasn't located until March 5, 2012, Salem Police said. The prosecution said the victim was screaming as her foot was trapped in the door by a seatbelt, according to The Salem News Thursday. The victim suffered a broken elbow during an ordeal in which she was dragged 393 feet, according to Patch reports at the time.
