About an inch of snow accumulated in the Boston area Sunday, and Jamaica Plain dealt with unrelated power and heat outages.
Hundreds of Jamaica Plain residents dealt with power outages Sunday, but the outage was not likely due to the weather. WCVB reported that Centre, Pond and Elliot streets were primarily affected Sunday afternoon. The outage was caused underground, NSTAR officials told the news channel. Some residents went without power or heat on the chilly afternoon. “Still powerless on green street brrrrrrr,” David Ziegler-Voll (@davidtornado) tweeted during the outage, followed by: “NStar repairing "high voltage equipment" & the time for restoration has been pushed back to 8PM. According to scanner traffic, a power outage has put the stop lights out in Egleston Square. Police were on the way to direct traffic. Universal Hub reported via Twitter that some people had to be rescued from a stuck elevator on Walnut Park.
NStar crews may have the power back on by 11:30 p.m., according to NotifyBoston.
About 700 JP and Roslindale residences were without power as of 9:30 p.m. on Monday night. NotifyBoston, the Twitter arm of the city's consituent services service, reports that NStar hopes to get the power back on by 11:30 p.m. on Monday.

WHDH reports the outage was caused when an 80-year-old oak that was rotted all the way through fell on power lines and crushed a car. JP resident and Patch restaurant reviewer Kate Mason reported at 12:19 p.m. that power was back at her residence.

As the neighborhood experiences prolonged rain and high winds, some residents report losing power.
Some residents are reporting having lost power Monday morning, including people on Revere, Green and Cheshire streets. The neighborhood has experienced a soaking rain and high winds, which authorities had warned could bring down small tree limbs and cause isolated power outages. NStar has these recommendations if you lose your power (and are reading this, presumbaly, on a smart phone!)
