Fredda Raimondi won $650,000 on a $20 scratch ticket.
A Jamaica Plain woman won a big prize when she played a $20 lottery ticket. Fredda Raimondi, a beautician from Jamaica Plain, won the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “Lifetime Spectacular” game, which offers a prize of $50,000 for a minimum of 20 years. Raimondi opted for a lump sum payment of $650,000, according to the Mass. Lottery website. She purchased the ticket at W&A Again convenience store at 1250 Boylston St., Boston. The store will receive a $10,000 on the sale. Raimondi, who won the prize Jan. 14, told the Lottery she plans to put half of her winnings in a retirement fund and that she would be taking a vacation. Now if only the Lucky for Life numbers game gave winners the choice of lump sum in lieu of the lifetime annuity. BTW, the "Hot Lotto" game, in May, is dumping the annuity (who chooses it?), and, the Connecticut "Classic Lotto" game, through February 15, will give a free quick-pick to a Classic Lotto player making a $3 purchase on one ticket.   more ›
