ADD YOUR OWN PHOTOS: Circle the City Connects Franklin Park and Jamaica Pond

The corridor from Franklin Park to Jamaica Pond was car-free on Sunday. If you have photos or video from the day's celebration, please add them here to share with your neighbors.

Pedestrians and cyclists ruled the road on Sunday in Jamaica Plain, as the Circle the City program made the corridor from Franklin Park to the Pond car-free. The event, created by the Emerald Necklace Conservancy, aimed to showcase the city's parks — and to get people out of their homes and cars. Here are a few photos (and a quick video of a pick-up band playing "Charlie on the MTA"). If you have snaps or videos of the day's festivities, please add them for your neighbors to see.

Guide to Circle the City Car-Free Corridor in Jamaica Plain for Sunday

On Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. the streets connecting Franklin Park and the Pond will be closed to traffic. Time to skate, bike, dance and strut.

On Sunday the Emerald Necklace Conservancy is shutting down vehicle traffic on the streets connecting Franklin Park and Jamaica Pond. The idea is to create a car-free corridor for residents to walk, bike, dance and otherwise enjoy themselves. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., but street closures begin at 9 a.m. The attached files tell you everything you'll need to know to enjoy the event — and, for people who have cars on those streets, where you can stash them while the event is going on. Activities will include yoga, free bikes at Green Street MBTA, fitness clinics, music and more. Here are some highlights. Please see the attached PDFs for full details. If you get photos or video from the event you'd like to share, the JP Patch …

PHOTOS: Boston's New 'Circle the City' Draws People to Parks This Summer; Comes to JP July 15

Circle the City continues with two free outdoor activities this summer. The next one is in JP, turning Green Street into a car-free corridor for dancing, roller skating or a stroll.

From zumba and hula hooping, to healthy food trucks, kite flying and a street hockey clinic with Boston Bruins' Andrew Ference, last Sunday kids took full advantage of their local park with Circle the City's kick off event at Franklin Park. The new initiative provides free outdoor fun, and is a collaboration between local organizations to connect people to parks and promote a healthy and active lifestyle. The Emerald Necklace Conservancy, the Boston Collaborative for Food and Fitness, LivableStreets Alliance, Franklin Park Coalition and the City of Boston launched the program on June 24, and have two more events planned for the summer:  Every event includes free live performances, outdoor fitness, dance and yoga classes, Farmer’s Markets, …

Winter Birds of Franklin Park

Even in winter the bird-watching is good in Franklin Park.

A few Sundays ago I hooked up with two of my bird-obsessed friends from journalism and we walked through Franklin Park, cameras at the ready. I didn't expect much — it's winter and we were out in the early afternoon. That's far from prime-time for birds, which are most active early in the morning or toward evening. I was amazed with what we saw. Here are a few shots I managed. If you have your own birding photos from Franklin Park, please share them!

Police say the person pictured is a "person of interest," not a suspect, in the Nov. 28 sexual assault on a woman who was pushing a stroller through the park.

Police have released a sketch of a man they are looking for in relation to the recent sexual assault in Franklin Park. On Nov. 28, a woman pushing a stroller in the park was approached from behind and assaulted. The man reportedly tried to choke her, but she broke free and was helped by nearby golfers. The child in the stroller was unharmed. The woman suffered non life-threatening injuries. Police say the person pictured is not considered a suspect at this time. They describe the man in the sketch as an Hispanic man in his mid-20s, 5-8, of medium build, wearing a black hat and a black jacket or long-sleeved shirt. Member of Running Club for the Homeless to Run Half-Marathon

Chris Sears, 23, rediscovered his love for running while recovering from heroin addiction at the hopeFound shelter in JP.

[UPDATE, Monday, Oct. 10: Chris Sears finished the BAA Half Marathon in a time of 2 hours, 14 minutes and 51 seconds.] Back in high school, Chris Sears was a track athlete. That was before the drugs. Sears, 23, has had a rough road since his days doing the triple-jump and hurdles at Whitman-Hanson Regional High School: heroin addiction, coke addiction. A booze problem, too. But he's been sober for four months, with the help of a running club for homeless men at hopeFound, a JP-based nonprofit. And on Sunday morning, he aims to be the first member of the Bulldog Running Club to compete in a half marathon. The race is the put on by the Boston Athletic Association, the same group that runs the Boston Marathon. It begins and ends in Franklin …
