Jose Ortega has been held on bail since July 16. Ortega was a coach for the Boston Broncos, which play in Jamaica Plain.
A Roslindale youth baseball coach accused of grooming one of his players for sexual abuse was arraigned today in Suffolk Superior Court after being indicted by a grand jury on Tuesday. Jose Ortega, 41, was arraigned on three counts of enticement of a child under 16, according to a press release from the Suffolk County District Attorney's office. The indictments stem from multiple incidents involving the same teenage boy that involved accusations of inappropriate conversations in person and through Facebook. Ortega was a manager for the Boston Broncos baseball team. The Broncos play in Jamaica Plain and have many JP players. Nicknamed "Brujo" - he has been held on $50,000 bail since his arraignment in West Roxbury District Court on July 16…

Boston City Councilor Tito Jackson is looking to learn about offering paperless voter registration—and be able to do it Facebook, too.
Looking to increase and save money on voter registration, Boston City Councilor Tito Jackson called for a hearing to assess the feasibility of paperless voter registration—and using Facebook to register online. During Wednesday's Boston City Council meeting, District 7's councilor spoke about the state of Washington offering the ability to register to vote online through Facebook by using a program engineered by Facebook and Microsoft. Jackson, who represents a bit of Egleston Square, said research has show that voting online costs three cents while voting on paper costs eight cents. Calling all JP photographers: We need your help. Later this month, the JP Patch page on Facebook will transition to the new timeline format. For those of you that have already embraced the new format on your personal page, you know that one giant photo dominates the screen. And we want that one giant photo that dominates the JP Patch page to be good -- really, really good. We also want it to be a graphic representation of JP. When you think of JP, what image comes to mind? A favorite mural? The Pond? The Lantern Parade? Full color, black and white, sepia tone ... the artistic license is yours (as long as the photo still reflects reality).
