District 6 Boston City Councilor Matt O'Malley attended the White House's annual Christmas Party and briefly got to speak with President Barack Obama. "It was a thrill of a lifetime," said O'Malley about the Dec. 18 Washington D.C. party. "We had about 30 seconds to talk to the President and the First Lady. I introduced myself as a city councilor of Boston. And he said ‘I love Boston.’ I said 'We love you. The next time you’re in town I want to personally invite you and the First Lady to Doyle’s in Jamaica Plain.' And he laughed and that was it." How about the Eire Pub in Dorchester? It's seen two presidents, Reagan and Clinton. Of course after Reagan went there Channel 5 was interviewing a regular patron who's response was that it was "ok" but he liked it better the time Ed King came. Why? "Because Ed King set up the bar!"   more ›
