The folks at Canary Square posted photos on the restaurant’s Facebook page of the tree’s removal.
A dead tree next to Canary Square restaurant was removed Friday, according to the restaurant's Facebook page. “After several years of wrangling...the City has removed the long dead tree at the end of Moraine Street,” said a caption above the photo album titled "Dead Tree Removal on Moraine Street." Canary Square was kind enough to let JP Patch borrow a few. Have a look.

A post about shoplifting at a CVS touched off a conversation about borderlines in Jamaica Plain.
There’s Jackson Square, Egleston Square, Hyde Square, Forest Hills, the Downtown Centre Street area, the S. Huntington Corridor area, the pond and…Canary Square? Thursday’s story about shoplifters arrested at CVS – 467 Centre St. – touched off a conversation about the name of the area in which the convenience store is located. While the headline of the story referred to it being in Hyde Square, some commenters said this was actually now known as Canary Square. Other commenters, however, called the area Hyde Square, arguing that there is actually no such thing as Canary Square – other than there being a restaurant on South Huntington Avenue which bears the name. Boston is a historic place. Though there are several officially named landmarks…

Can you name which Jamaica Plain establishment served this burger?
UPDATE, Monday: And, as readers guessed, this burger is from Canary Square. Thanks everyone! I'll have to make next Saturday's one a bit harder. ~~~~~ Welcome to a new JP Patch feature, one that I hope you'll find entertaining. Each Saturday I'll post a photo from a dish I've eaten at a JP restaurant. In the comment section, make your guess about which restaurant served the meal. I'll circle back with the answer on Monday. Take a look at this week's meal and Guess the Restaurant in the comments. Good luck!

In a squeaker, Canary Square bested Lilac Sunday as the top spot to take Mom for Mother's Day brunch.
Well, this one was close! By a margin of two votes (and because no new ratings were written), Canary Square wins the week's contest for Best Mother's Day Brunch. The runner up was the traditional Lilac Sunday picnic in the Arboretum. For everyone who voted or rated a business, thanks!
