What's Open, Closed in Jamaica Plain on July 4

Find out what's open on Friday.

Independence Day arrives Friday, and for residents sticking around in the area, here's a roundup of what's open and closed in the area for the holiday: 

  • Municipal Offices: Closed, including City Hall, public schools, libraries, and community centers.
  • Pools: All outdoor pools are open.
  • Trash & Recycling: See schedule for delays. 
  • Parking Meters: Free, time limit will not be in effect. All other parking rules remain in effect. 
  • Tow Lot: Open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Banks: Closed.
  • Schools: Closed.
  • Post office: Closed.
  • Restaurants, bars: Open at owners' discretion.
  • Convenience stores: Open at owners' discretion.
  • Liquor stores: Open at owners' discretion.
  • Supermarkets: Mostly open
  • Trash & Recycling: Trash will be delayed by one day for residents of Allston, Brighton, Dorchester, East Boston, Hyde Park, Jamaica Plain, Mattapan, Roslindale, West Roxbury and South Boston and whose trash and recycling is normally collected on Friday. (If you live in Jamaica Plain and your trash is picked up twice per week, do not delay.)
