Volunteers are encouraged to join in cleaning up the area on Saturday morning.

Representatives of two Main Streets districts in Jamaica Plain are getting ready to clean up the neighborhood's streets this weekend.

Volunteers are encouraged and invited to join either JP Centre/South Main Streets or Hyde Jackson Square Main Streets on Saturday morning. The cleanup effort is part of the ongoing Boston Shines initiative, a part of which volunteers join together to help clean up various parks and streets in Boston's neighborhoods.

JP Centre/South Main Streets will meet at Curtis Hall in Jamaica Plain between 8:30 and 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 26 to pick up tools for the cleanup, which will run until 1 p.m.

Trash bags, gloves and tools will be provided, but participants are asked to bring a broom or rake if possible.
