Wake Up the Earth Festival

Date & Time: Saturday, May 3, 12-6 p.m.
Location: Leaves from the Curtis Hall community Center, 20 South St. in Jamaica Plain. 

The festival in Jamaica Plain began by Spontaneous Celebration in 1979 and is an annual celebration of diversity as well as the arrival of spring. The event will feature live music, dance, theater, food, community group information tables and vendors. More information can be found here. Free Meditation Class

Date & Time: Saturday, May 3, 10-11 a.m.
Location: 179 Green St., Jamaica Plain

Learn how to bring peace of mind into your daily experiences with practical meditation techniques. Each class includes a short talk and guided meditation. No experience is necessary; the session will feature Buddhist Teacher Mar York. Space is limited; those interested can pre-register here.

Curly K8 Annual Plant Sale 

Date & Time: Saturday, May 3, 10 a.m.
Location: Municipal Lot #032 490-498 Centre St., Jamaica Plain

The Curley K8 School in Jamaica Plain will hold its annual plant and bake sale. The event will feature annuals, vegetables and herbs, and a bake sale and activities for children will also be available. Proceeds benefit the arts, music and science programs at the school. 

Dochas - Dance for Hope

Date & Time: Saturday, May 3, 7 p.m.
Location: Irish Social Club of Boston, 119 Park St., West Roxbury

The Irish Social Club will host a night of music with net proceeds going to the Dochas Suicide Prevention Coalition and McLean Hospital Clinical Research for Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. The coalition is a network established by the Massachusetts Irish community, local organizations and nonprofits that offer education, support and referrals to assist members of the community who struggle with suicidal thoughts and to assist people who have been affected or bereaved by suicide. Lemonade 4 Luv

Date & Time: Sunday, May 4, 1 p.m.
Location: Beethoven School Parking Lot, 5125 Washington St., West Roxbury

Seven West Roxbury students this weekend will participate in Lemonade Day Boston with a stand called "Lemonade 4 Luv". Half of the proceeds raised will be given to the Lt. Walsh-Firefighter Kennedy Memorial Fund, and a donation jar will be available at the lemonade stand as well.
