18th Annual Doyle’s Road Race

The five-mile Doyle’s 18th Annual Emerald Necklace Road Race will be held on Sunday, April 13th. The race will be held rain or shine. To register, visit http://bit.ly/1lSt7QP. Pre-Registration and early number pickup is encouraged. Registration ends at 10:30 a.m. on race day. Race numbers may be picked up at Doyle’s Cafe between 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. on race day. The race will cover a flat wheel measured five-mile course finishing at Doyle’s Cafe, traveling through Franklin Park, the Gem of the Emerald Necklace. A post race party will be held at Doyle’s, featuring music by The Fenian Sons, refreshments, food, award ceremony and raffle prizes. Some of the proceeds benefiting Sister Jeanne’s Kids’ and The Boston Police Gaelic Column of Pipes and Drums.

First-Ever Boston KidsFest

Environment science nonprofit “e” inc. will host Boston KidsFest, a free, six-week-long series of fun animations about the planet for children and families. Designed to spark imaginations and inspire young people to take action in protecting the planet, the full hour of short films will be followed by a fun hands-on activity that each child can take home. The event began on March 15 and runs for six consecutive Saturdays.

Easter Egg-Stravaganza

Residents in the area are invited to make their own basket to use on an Easter egg hunt this Saturday, have a snack and watch a movie. The egg-stravaganza is geared toward kids aged 2-10, but all ages are welcome.

Children and parents in the Jamaica Plain area are invited to an annual Easter Egg Hunt at noon on Saturday, sponsored by Boing! JP's Toy Shop. The Eliot School is hosting an Easter Egg Decorating event from 10 a.m. until noon. Attendees are asked to bring their own eggs and decorate them with family, friends and some of Eliot School's art teachers and then display your creation at the Loring-Greenough House during the hunt.

The Sacred Living Expo

6 Eliot Street, Jamaica Plain

On Saturday, April 12, the Sacred Living Expo comes to Jamaica Plain's First Church at 6 Eliot Street. The Expo will be the first event of its kind in JP. Visitors will find booths on power crystals, holistic nutrition, life coaching, sacred listening, mystery school, and many other aspects of spiritual and personal growth, and holistic approaches to wellness. The $5 admission fee includes future discounts on products and services offered at the booths.
