Christmas Trees Recycling
Boston will collect Christmas trees through Friday, January 10. Put the tree out by 7 a.m. on your regular recycling day. Make sure you strip the tree clean of tinsel, ornaments, wire, stands and any other non-recyclable material. Don't put the tree or wreaths in a plastic bag. the trees are composted, so they need to be all-natural.
Inauguration Celebration
Welcome in Boston's new Mayor, Marty Walsh, at the Inaugural Celebration, Monday, January 6, 7:00 p.m., at the Hynes Convention Center.

The celebration will include performances by: The Boston Pops Swing Orchestra, with conductor Keith Lockhart; Dropkick Murphys; Blue Man Group; Ellis Hall; The Floor Lords; Zumix; Calypso Hurricane; Strictly Sinatra; Mark Morris and the Cat Tunes; Steve Sweeney; Lenny Clarke; and DJ Master Millions. Additional performers will be announced in the coming weeks.

January is Adopt a Bird Month
Participate in Adopt a Bird Month at the MSPCA Animal Care and Adoption Center, 350 South Huntington Ave., Jamaica Plain. From parakeets and doves to cockatiels and macaws, there are hundreds of birds surrendered to the MSPCA each year. To learn which pets are available for forever homes, visit the MSPCA website.
Library Happenings
Both Jamaica Plain's libraries, the Main Branch and Connolly, are offering diverse choices of FREE programs this week. Some of the events include, Arts & Crafts Story Time, Performing Arts, Spanish Lessons, Mask Making, an Author Talk and more.
