PHOTOS: 3-Day Breast Cancer Walkers Stride Through Boston

Despite the heat, thousands of people completed 60 miles in three days during the annual event to support the fight against breast cancer.

Thousands of people walked from Framingham to UMass Boston, covering 60 miles in three days as part of the annual Susan G. Komen 3-Day For The Cure.

As a major heatwave also passed through the region, walkers tried to say happy and hydrated as temperatures soared, reaching the triple digits during the weekend.

At points, the walk was cut short as organizers deployed buses to pick up many of the participants. Hundreds of people were forced to drop out of the event due to problems such as heat exhaustion and dehydration, and many were transported to the hospital as a precaution.
