Two-point Third Quarter Dooms English Girls Basketball

The Blue and Blue lose to Burke, 38-34.

A lackluster offensive performance derailed the girls basketball team Wednesday as it lost to Burke, 38-34.

“Pretty much, we were not able to score,” said Blue and Blue head coach Justine Grace. “We scored two points in the third quarter. Our shots weren’t falling.”

She added later, “You cannot win a game scoring two points in a quarter.”

With the defeat, English slips to 5-7 on the season.

Despite the team’s offensive woes, guard Elizabeth Sun managed to score 16 points. The junior captain also grabbed five rebounds.

“She was big,” said Grace. “She could have had 30 points.”

The Blue and Blue will look to rebound Friday as they host West Roxbury.
