Riding on the arm of Hansel Jiminez, the English High School boys baseball team did what the Boston Red Sox could not do—win its season opener.
The Blue and Blue defeated Boston City League-foe Madison Park, 3-1, Wednesday to help erase the memories of last year’s 2-16 season.
“It was intense,” said English assistant coach Ted Hespeler.

Jiminez, a senior captain, managed to shut down Madison Park’s offense pitching a two-hit, eight-strikeout complete game.
Providing the offense for the Blue and Blue was junior Bryanne Toney, who blasted a single driving in two runs.
