"One-Two-Three Innings" Add Up To English Baseball Loss

The Blue and Blue lose to Cambridge Rindge and Latin, 13-2.

Facing unwelcoming natural elements, the baseball team lost to Cambridge Rindge and Latin, 13-2, Thursday afternoon.

“It was ugly,” said Blue and Blue assistant coach Ted Hespeler. “It was cold, wet, and nasty.”

He added that it was a “mix of everything” that contributed to the loss.

“The rain delay and cold conditions,” he noted. “Our bats weren’t alive. It’s tough getting things going with one-two-three innings every time.”

With the defeat, the Blue and Blue drop to 3-8 on the season.

Frank Kelly pitched 6 1/3 innings while allowing nine runs for English. Delvis Baez smashed a two-run home run in the eighth inning to provide the Blue and Blue with their only run support.

English will look to rebound from the loss as it travels to take on East Boston Monday at 3:30 p.m.
