New York Bar Won't Serve Sam Adams Beer During Super Bowl XLVI

Jim Koch of Boston Beer Co., which has a brewery in JP, took it in stride. "If it weren't for the original New England patriot, Samuel Adams...we might be watching cricket and drinking tea instead of watching the Super Bowl."

A New York bar won't be serving any Sam Adams brews during Sunday's big game, according to the Boston Globe's beer blogger.

The founder of Sam Adams, which has a brewery here in Jamaica Plain, wasn't too upset about the snub from Foley's Bar, which is just across from the Empire State Building.

"We are OK being taken off draft for a couple of hours if the hometown fans want to show their team spirit on Sunday," Jim Koch said in an email. "I know Foley's, and it's a great bar. I hope they remember that no matter where you're watching the game or who wins, if it weren't for the original New England patriot, Samuel Adams, and his cohorts, we might be watching cricket and drinking tea instead of watching the Super Bowl."
