12:03 p.m. Kenyan Geoffrey Mutai has won the Men's Elite Division of the Boston Marathon -- and set a new world record at 2:03:01.
12:02 p.m. Curious observation--Kilel pretty much collapsed as soon as she finished and looked visibly drained. Davila looked like she could've gone another mile or two - this was quite a feat. "She gave it her all," Greg Hudson, 46, said. "That's all anyone can ask." Hudson lives right in town and admits the race clogs up the city. "If you don't have to work and aren't dealing with a car, it's fine. People shouldn't complain, this is an event we should all be proud to host here."
11:58 a.m. Jamaica Plain's just passed the 10K mark with a time of 1:09:17 and a pace of 11:09.
11:55 a.m. Caroline Kilel just crossed the finish line here in Copley with American Desiree Davila just inches behind her in second place. People around me seem happy we came so close...
11:26 a.m. Most of the wheelchairs have reached the last Newton hill and we are starting to see the front of the pack of the elite women runners.
11:38 a.m. The frontrunners in the men's elite group have reached Patch's spot on Heartbreak Hill near the corner of Commonwealth Avenue and Grant Avenue. A few wheelchairs are still making their way up the hills as well, reaching a wall of applause and cheering as they pass the crowds.
10:53 a.m. Women’s elite wheelchair racer Wakako Tsuchida has just won her fifth Boston Marathon and may have set a new course record.
10:44 a.m. You can track runners you know via the Boston Athletic Association's Web site. Once you know a bib number, you can also get alerts sent to your mobile phone when that person passes the 10K, halfway, 30K and finish line marks.
10:38 a.m. It was a three-man sprint to the finish for the men’s elite wheelchair racers! Japan’s Masazumi Soejima wins, with Australia’s Kurt Fearnley just behind him to take second place. Nine-time champion Ernst Van Dyke finished third.
9:17 a.m. The 2011 Boston Marathon got underway at 9:17 a.m. when the first wheelchair racers crossed the start line in Hopkinton. The elite men and women start at 9:32 and 10 a.m., followed by three waves of qualified and charity runners.
