Propelled by senior outside hitter Yabriela Rodriquez, the girls volleyball team defeated Burke, 3-0, Thursday afternoon. The scores were 25-15, 25-19, and 25-23.
“Her consistency is coming together,” Blue and Blue coach Hardy Mondesir said of Rodriquez. “And her passing is outstanding.”
With the triumph, the Blue and Blue remain perfect on the season at 4-0.
“It feels good [to be undefeated], but I’m looking over my shoulder at O’Bryant and Latin Academy,” said the coach.
Helping English in its campaign is the return of senior setter , whose status before the season was uncertain because of an injury. But Mondesir gave her a little extra motivation to return by picking her older sister Karen as an assistant coach.
“She had no choice, but to come back,” Mondesir joked.
The Blue and Blue will look to continue their winning ways Tuesday as they travel to take on Dorchester for a 4:15 p.m contest.
