Senior captain Richard Monteiro scored the Blue and Blue’s first touchdown of the season, but that was not enough, as the English High School football team fell to Boston City League-foe Latin Academy, 14-6, last Friday.
Monteiro ran in the from five yards out in the opening quarter, but English was unable to convert the two-point conversion or muster any more offense after the fast start.
The rebuilding program scored three touchdowns last season, two of them by Monteiro, according to the Boston Globe.
“It was a good game,” said Blue and Blue coach Chris Boswell. "The kids competed and they never gave up. We’re just going to keep on grinding.”
The loss drops the Blue and Blue to 1-2 on the season.
English returns to action tonight as it hosts South Boston for a 6 p.m. contest.
