Blizzards Fail to Freeze English Track Coach's Optimism

The Blue and Blue finish their season at the Boston City League Championship.

The 2010-11 indoor track and field season has been one littered with snow postponements and cancellations, but that did little to hamper coach Logan Jones' assessment of the year.

“The snow has spoiled a lot of what we had planned,” said Jones. “But it’s been a great season.”

That season came to a close last Tuesday as the Blue and Blue competed in the Boston City League Championship Day 2 events. Anthony Cruz ran his personal best in the boys 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:05, which was fast enough for fourth place.

“I was really proud of him,” said Jones. “I challenged him. I took the training wheels off and he stuck his nose in there.”

Oshawney Williams, who Jones said missed part of the season due to personal and school reasons, placed sixth in the boys 300-meter run with a time of 39.50.

Jones said the team will take a week off before they start lifting weights and prepping for the outdoor track season in the spring.
