JP Housing Committee to Discuss Washington Street Developments

The real estate landscape in JP is heating up.

A Jamaica Plain committee will host a public meeting later in the months to discuss a possible development that would bring 280 units of new housing to the Forest Hills area.

The Jamaica Plain Housing and Development Committee will meet with developers and the interested public Tuesday, Aug. 20 to discuss planned apartment being called "The Commons at Forest Hills Station."

At the meeting there will be updates on other rumored or proposed developments in the area, according to committee chair Jamie Lionette.

The development, to be located at the Hughes Oil site, 3593-3615 Washington St., is one of several other planned developments in the area. Other developers are planning for a mixed use series of buildings at the nearby Flanagan and Seaton auto dealership plot, 3521-3529 Washington St. This project, however, has been stalled due to contamination issues.

The committee will meet at the Bowditch School, 82 Green St. at 6:30 p.m., Aug. 20.
