Asticou Road neighbors and neighborhood officials are against the proposed plan for the Forest Hill Station upper busway changes that would have to come with the Casey Arborway project.

At a Tuesday night meeting, Bernard Doherty, an Asticou Road area resident and the chair of the Asticou-Martinwood Neighborhood Council, urged the Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Council to take action against the plans, which it did.

Several neighborhood council members were critical of the plans, which would create a situation where light from buses would shine directly on Asticou Road. Red Burrows, vice chair of the Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Council, said one possible fix could be to reverse the direction of how the buses exit and enter under the plans. Longtime council member Michael Reiskind called the plan “horrible” as currently constituted.

How would you propose Massachusetts Department of Transportation solve the problem? The busway, which is across the street from the small neighborhood, could undergo changes as part of the Casey Arborway project, but does it necessarily have to? Leave your opinion in the comments.
