Warren Gets 96 Percent of JP Senate Donations — But Incumbent Brown Does Well in Boston

In the bellwether neighborhood of West Roxbury, for instance, Brown crushed Warren in terms of money raised so far.

If Boston’s dollars alone determined the outcome of this November’s Senate race between Republican incumbent Scott Brown and Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren, Warren would win.

According to data from the Federal Elections Commission through the end of March, Warren pulled more dollars from the city—$674,840 vs. Brown’s $562,329. However, Warren's money advantage is to be expected in heavily Democratic-leaning Boston. The real story may be how well Brown's fundraising is holding up.

For instance, in bellwether West Roxbury, Brown crushed Warren, taking in more than $18,000 to Warren's $5,000.

The Harvard professor and former appointee of President Barack Obama also led Brown on the simple number of contributions—1,364 compared to Brown’s 909.

The candidates gathered contributions from residents in 32 Boston ZIP codes, and Brown outraised Warren in 17.

As expected, however, Jamaica Plain went heavily for Warren. JP residents gave a scant 6 percent of their money to Brown, showering Warren with 96 percent of their contributions.

It’s worth noting that Warren had not yet been named as the Democratic nominee at the time of the last-listed contributions.
