No Current Plans for 500 Arborway Building Replacement

The area could be used for construction staging for the Casey Arborway project.

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority's plans to demolish the 500 Arborway office building have not come with details regarding what to do with the space left over from the demolition. the Jamaica Plain Gazette reported Friday. 

MBTA officials have said there is currently no long-term plan for what to do with the space left by the to-be demolished building, but the area could be used for construction staging for the Casey Arborway project, according to the Gazette. 

In addition, funds have yet to be allocated for construction of the Arborway Yard facility, and the MBTA has not provided details regarding what current site preparation is for, the Gazette reported.

The Arborway Yard, an 18-acre area of land on Washington Street and the Arborway in the Forest Hills section of Jamaica Plain, currently houses a temporary bus maintenance facility.
