State transportation officials had to close the Casey Overpass for temporary repairs over the weekend; though they left the door open for further temporary closures in advance of the teardown, the department said there will be no need.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation along with its contractor SPS New England, competed the repairs on Saturday, according to a statement.
In total, the Casey Overpass consists of 40 spans. On Saturday, crews made full repairs to 15 spans and partial repairs to five more.
The repairs were scheduled as an interim measure to improve the riding surface through the winter months.
The bridge, which carries Route 203, is scheduled to be taken down in 2014.
