The Jamaica Plain chapter of Volunteers of America will develop a training program for juvenile offenders by way of the grant.

Volunteers of America received a labor grant to help keep juvenile offenders off the streets and in their classes.

The Jamaica Plain branch of the national organization got an $820,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Labor, according to Boston.com June 27. With the money, the non-profit will develop programs to train offenders between ages 16 and 24 who have not been in the criminal justice system as adults.
