Hinton State Chemist Fired; Alleged to Have Falsified Credentials

The analyst allegedly said in court she has a degree in chemistry but it's actually in sociology.

On the heels of the sentencing of Annie Dookhan, a state chemist who pleaded guilty to falsifying drug evidence in thousands of Massachusetts cases, the state has fired a chemist who worked in the same Jamaica Plain.

The state fired Kate Corbett, who officials say has a degree in sociology from Merrimack College despite telling them her degree was in chemistry, according to WHDH.com.

Corbett worked in the now closed Hinton State Drug Lab in Jamaica Plain; she is not accused of evidence tampering, according to The Boston Globe.
