Alan Khazei to Drop Out of Senate Race

With powerhouse Elizabeth Warren taking all the attention in the Democratic U.S. Senate primary, multiple sources are reporting Khazei will drop out of the race Thursday.

The Associated Press is reporting this evening that Alan Khazei will announce tomorrow he is dropping out of the race for U.S. Senate. 

According to the AP (posted here on WBUR), a spokesperson for Khazei confirmed that the Brookline resident and City Year co-founder will officially withdraw tomorrow, as the dynamic of the race has changed with the addition of Elizabeth Warren.

In an email to Patch, Khazei's campaign says he will hold a press conference tomorrow at noon "to discuss his campaign for U.S. Senate." The press conference will take place at 201 South St. in Boston.

Warren, an attorney and former Harvard law professor, has been the favored contender for Scott Brown .

Unlike Massie and Setti Warren, though, Khazei managed to reel more than $1 million in donations during his campaign. According to the AP, Khazei has raised $1.3 million since the start of the year. However, Elizabeth Warren has brought in more than $3 million during her short time in the race. 

Elizabeth Warren is scheduled to be in Newton tomorrow for an event at the Scandinavian Living Center, .
