Witnesses Say Pedestrian Walked Into Path of SUV at Amory and Porter Streets

The pedestrian suffered a broken collar bone.

An SUV hit a pedestrian who had stepped into street at Amory and Porter. She suffered a broken collar bone and, according to a witness, briefly lost consciousness.

The incident took place at 2:37 p.m. Saturday in rainy conditions. According to a police report, two witnesses who were with her said they were headed to the when one of their group stepped into Amory Street. The driver of the Toyota RAV 4 that struck the woman told police her head was hooded and he couldn't tell she intended to walk into the street. He told police he was doing about 20 MPH and tried to avoid a collision, but had little space in which to react.

The pedestrian was taken to Brigham and Women's Hospital, where a brain scan was performed.

The area in question has been under discussion at the Police District E-13 Traffic and Parking Committee as a trouble spot, according to a reader.
