Two Bricks of Cocaine Allegedly Found on Man in JP Restaurant

The arrest of Adriano Peña at El Embajador on Washington Street was the culmination of a long, multi-agency investigation, said Suffolk County prosecutors.

A Roslindale man was allegedly caught with two bricks of cocaine at in JP on Wednesday night, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office.

As part of a multi-agency investigation, agents arrested Adriano Peña, 35, of Roslindale and Wiston Peña, 42, of Dorchester and charged them with trafficking more than 200 grams of cocaine. Prosecutors said the two had a total of 3,070 grams of the drug, with a street value of $100,000.

According to the Suffolk Council District Attorney's office, the investigation that led to the arrests involved the Boston Police, Cambridge Police, Massachusetts State Police, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and prosecutors from the Suffolk DA's Narcotics Unit.

Both men had been under surveillance. Prosecutors say Wiston Peña had a black plastic bag as he left 27 Harvard Ave. in Dorchester on Wednesday evening to meet with Adriano Peña at 54 Franklin Hill Ave., also in Dorchester. The two rode around the block in Wiston Peña's Honda Accord. Then, prosecutors say, Adriano Peña drove to the restaurant at 3371 Washington St. in Jamaica Plain and entered with a black plastic bag.

Investigators moved in on Adriano Peña in the restaurant and detained him. Employees, patrons and the restaurant's owner were also inside at the time, prosecutors said.

The black bag contained two bricks of cocaine wrapped in gray duct tape and also a Ziploc bag of cocaine, prosecutors allege. Adriano Peña was arrested. Prosecutors say a search of his apartment turned up $1,276 cash, eight grams of heroin and a "medium sized bag" of cocaine.

Meanwhile, investigators also arrested Wiston Peña, who at the time was on Norwell Street in Dorchester. Investigators say they found 34 bags of cocaine of various sizes in his home.

Both men pleaded not guilty at their arraignments on Thursday, according to the Boston Globe.
