Transit Police Arrest Man for Fondling Woman on Orange Line

The suspect was identified by the victim, who had taken his picture on her cell phone.

According to an MBTA Police report, around 4 p.m. yesterday a female passenger complained she was sexually assaulted on the Orange Line riding from Community College towards .

The victim said the assailant aggressively fondled the victim as he sat next to her, despite her resistance. He touched her on the inner thigh and groin. Unable to move away on the congested train, she later exited at and reported the incident to MBTA inspectors. She also provided them a photo of the man taken with her cell phone.

Transit Police officers at Forest Hills alerted by the inspectors found a man matching the description and photo sitting in a train and escorted him out. He was reportedly intoxicated and acting lewdly. Officials confronted him with the shaken victim who immediately identified him.

Abdulkadir Abbas, 29, homeless (staying at the St. Francis House on Boylston), was arrested and charged with indecent assault and battery.
