Suspect in Orange Line Assault Arrested

Victim claims she was touched inappropriately after boarding train at Mass Ave. station.

A man wanted for allegedly assaulting an Orange Line passenger in May was arrested in Lynn on Wednesday, MBTA police announced.

Mohammed Mwamuye, 32, of Lynn, was charged with indecent assault and battery stemming from a May 17 incident in which a female passanger claims he engaged her in small talk before attempting to put his arm around her repeatedly and touching her inappropriately.

The incident took place on an Orange Line train near the Massachusetts Avenue station. The victim exited the train at Wellington Station and alerted police, who posted Wanted posters with Mwamuye's description.

On Wednesday, Mwamuye was located at Central Square in Lynn. When interviewed, Mwamuye admitted to his involvement in the assault, MBTA police reported.
