Suspect Chucks Box of Guns, Crack Out Window

Police serving a search warrant on Boylston say a man threw the box out before climbing out himself. The search led to another suspect in West Roxbury, who was hiding in a hatch in a bathroom ceiling.

Police say a suspect tried to get rid of evidence by throwing a box of guns and drugs out a window as police came through the front door with a warrant.

On Thursday at 2:34 p.m. police served the warrant on 209 Boylston #2 in JP. An officer posted at the rear of the building reports seeing a man heave a red and yellow box out the window before trying to escape through the window.

The man was apprehended. Police had heard a metallic "clank" and found two guns and crack cocaine by the box. Inside the box they say they found more crack cocaine.

Inside the apartment police say they found drug paraphernalia like scales and baggies. Further, police say they found ammunition and "personal papers" linking the suspect to the drugs.

Police arrested Niko Flores, 17, and charged him with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and trafficking Class B drugs.

Police say the got information during the execution of the Boylston Street warrant that led them to 20 Miami Ave. in West Roxbury.

At that address, police asked a woman there if the man they were looking for was there. She said he was in the basement, which turned out to be a separate apartment. Police say they took this to mean the woman was trying to fool them.

Police went back to the other unit and searched the bathroom, where they found a hatch in the ceiling. They asked the suspect to climb down, which he did. Police arrested John Lara, 20, and charged with with the same offenses as Flores.
