UPDATED: Shih Tzu Stolen from Jamaica Plain Animal Hospital

Bella, a 9-year-old dog who needs medical treatment, was probably stolen Sunday. She can be returned no questions asked.

Someone stole a 9-year-old Shih Tzu from a Jamaica Plain animal hospital on Sunday.

Employees at the Massachusetts Society of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals-Angell Animal Medical Center discovered Bella missing on Sunday. Bella's back has been shaved because of severe matting of her coat. The unspayed dog also requires medical attention for health problems that "may be life-threatening," according to the .

If you have information that may lead to the safe return of the dog, the MSPCA-Angell asks that you contact The Boston Police Department at 617-343-5628. They will also accept the return of the dog, "no questions asked, 24-hours a day" to the emergency desk of the 350 South Huntington Ave. facility, or by calling 617 522 5055.

"It’s extremely rare that an animal is stolen from our Adoption Center and we ask for members of the public to please keep watch for a dog that matches Bella’s description," said Amanda Kennedy, director of MSPCA-Angell’s Animal Care and Adoption Center, in a statement. "At this time our top concern is for the safe return of the dog to our care, which can be done 24/7 by bringing the dog back to our center or by contacting the Boston Police Department."
