School Street Fire Displaces Two Residents

Fire officials say the home sustained $50,000 in damage.

Two School Street residents will not be able to return to their home tonight after a fire sparked in the attic Saturday morning.

According to scanner reports, the call came in for the fire at 114 School St. around 11:20 a.m.

Boston Fire Captain Pat Nichols said the cause of the fire was likely "careless disposal of smoking materials." Roughly $50,000 worth of damage was done to the home, Nichols said.

One of the residents was sent to the hospital for an arm injury, Nichols said, but he was unsure which hospital the resident was sent to.

Three engines, two ladder trucks and one rescue vehicle were sent to the one-alarm fire, which firefighters put out within a half an hour, Nichols said.
