On Tuesday, Hector "Nemo" Soto, 22, was convicted of second degree murder, by a Suffolk Superior Court jury, according to a statement from Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel Conley. Christian Rivera, 24, of Mission Hill, was convicted of being an accessory to murder after the fact.

Prosecutors showed that Hector Soto confronted Kenneth Soto (who were not related) after the two arrived with separate friends at a 7-11 on Centre Street in Jamaica Plain in the early morning of Oct. 16, 2011. The two men started to fight outside of the store, and Rivera, who had come to the location with Hector Soto, became involved in the fight.

Hector Soto stabbed the victim multiple times, and laughed as he fled the scene in a vehicle. Kenneth Soto stumbled into the 7-11, where he collapsed, and was pronounced dead at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Fleeing the scene, Hector Soto and Rivera went to Rivera’s home.

The two men will be sentenced on May 1, with Hector Soto expected to get a mandatory life sentence in prison with the possibility of parole in 15 years. Rivera faces a maximum of seven years in prison.
