Wires were brought down, according to scanner reports, with at least 10 Chestnut Avenue homes losing power.

According to scanner reports, wires are down in the Chestnut Avenue area. At least 10 homes were without power when the incident happened around 10 a.m. Chestnut Avenue residents — if you're reading this on battery power or your cell phone, let the neighborhood know if you're still without power.

WHDH reports the outage was caused when an 80-year-old oak that was rotted all the way through fell on power lines and crushed a car.

JP resident and Patch restaurant reviewer reported at 12:19 p.m. that power was back at her residence.

This happened outside our house - a tree fell onto power lines. We do not have power as far as I know (I'm not there at present).

Still no power as of 10:30 pm. We were told it might be early tomorrow.

We're still without power after 24 hours. The latest from the "guy on the pole" is that it might be back this evening. So, yeah - all the food has to go. :(
