Police Focus on Bromley-Heath As Home of Possible Suspect in Shooting

UPDATED: According to scanner traffic, police evacuated a Homestead Street apartment building where a possible suspect in an earlier homicide was thought to be barricaded.

UPDATED: Police units surrounded a Homestead Street apartment where a JP resident and homicide suspect was believed to have barricaded himself in, according to scanner traffic.

Earlier today, around 5 pm, a man was shot at Homestead Street and Walnut Avenue in Roxbury, just outside JP. That man was taken to Boston Medical Center for treatment and there was pronounced dead, according to Boston Police.

Police were looking for a suspect described as a black male with dreadlocks halfway down his back, wearing dark blue pants and a puffy black NorthFace jacket, according to scanner traffic. The suspect has an address on Bickford Street in JP, according to scanner traffic. Police do not officially give out suspect's addresses, according to a media relations officer.

Police evacuated other persons out of the surrounded building further down on Homestead. When police entered the building to search for the suspect, they could not find anyone, according to scanner traffic.

No arrests had been made as of 10:30 pm Thursday, according to Boston Police.
