Police Release Sketch in Franklin Park Attack

Police say the person pictured is a "person of interest," not a suspect, in the Nov. 28 sexual assault on a woman who was pushing a stroller through the park.

Police have released a sketch of a man they are looking for in relation to the recent sexual assault in Franklin Park.

On Nov. 28, a woman pushing a stroller in the park was approached from behind and assaulted. The man reportedly tried to choke her, but she broke free and was helped by nearby golfers. The child in the stroller was unharmed. The woman suffered non life-threatening injuries.

Police say the person pictured is not considered a suspect at this time. They describe the man in the sketch as an Hispanic man in his mid-20s, 5-8, of medium build, wearing a black hat and a black jacket or long-sleeved shirt.

Police say a person matching the sketch was seen in the area of the attack and that, if people know him, they should have him contact police.

That's very similar to the initial descriptions of the attacker, who witnesses described as an Hispanic man, 5-8, 150 pounds, with a light-to-medium complexion and a thin build. The attacker was wearing a black fitted baseball hat, a white tank top and blue jeans. He was carrying a long-sleeved black T shirt when he ran away. The man spoke both Spanish and English with a strong accent, police said.
