Police Make Arrest in Armed Holdup of Metro PCS Store in Jamaica Plain

There were two robbers; police say a homeless man admitted to being one of them.

Police have made an arrest in last Monday's armed robbery at the Metro PCS Store at 319 Centre St.

The robbery involved two masked men, at least one of whom had a gun. According to witnesses quoted in a police report, the gunman pointed a small silver gun at the heads of the store clerk and another witness, saying "Don't move. I'll kill you." The other robber, the smaller of the two, went around the counter and took money from both registers. The robbers made off with about $450, according to a police report.

Two days after the robbery, police were questioning a man about several armed robberies around the city. According to a police report, the man admitted on tape to the Metro PCS robbery. Police arrested Ronald R. Mikell, homeless, and charged him with armed robbery of a business. From police reports, it isn't clear if police believe him to be the taller robber or the shorter one.
