Police: Get License Plate Number of Overly Loud Cars

In response to the weekend emails, an E-13 police officer issued some guidelines to help deal with vehicular noise pollution.

For some, cars blasting music at all hours of the night is a problem in Boston, specifically in Jamaica Plain. The subject came up in an email over the weekend, and in response, an officer at the E-13 police station has issued a set of guidelines for residents tired of the noise.

Officer Carlos Lara suggested residents do the following if they encounter cars with radios that go above and beyond what they feel is reasonable noise levels:

·         It would be of great help if you could get the plate of the vehicles, the time, location, and a brief description of both the vehicle and the driver if possible.  I will send them a letter. explaining that this type of behavior is against the law and it will not be tolerated for the first time.  A $100.00 dollars fine will be sent to them for any subsequent offense.
