Officials Investigate Possible Arson Near Egleston

According to a police report, fire officials responded to two fires on Waldren Road.

Police and fire officials responded to two calls for building fires near Egleston Square June 27 and 28.

Police from the E-13 (Jamaica Plain) district were called to 11 Waldren Road June 28 at about 11:02 a.m. for a building fire, according to a police report.

Fire officials were already at the scene where there had been a small fire in the basement level of the building.

A person in the building visiting her mother told police the building’s fire alarm had gone off. She observed smoke coming from the basement staircase and saw flames in the basement. She and other residents extinguished the fire with buckets of water, according to the report.

A fire official at the scene told police that a hole was punched in the side of the staircase where the fire was started. He also said the day before (June 27) fire officials responded to a call for fire on Waldren Road.

Boston police, fire and arson investigators are in the process of investigating both incidents.
