Off-leash dog jumps up on 2-year-old; alarmed grandmother calls police

The child was not bitten during the incident, which happened on the JP side of Franklin Park.

A grandmother reported that an off-leash tan and brown terrier/pitbull jumped up on her 2-year-old granddaughter on the JP side of Franklin Park.

The grandmother told police that she was walking with her granddaughter near Sigourney Street about 6:05 pm on Tuesday when the dog ran up and "jumped up on" the 2-year-old. The grandmother held up the child to prevent her from falling.

The grandmother told police that the dog owner did not grab the dog or put it on a leash, only called to it. The grandmother described the owner as a slim blonde woman, 5-feet, 4-inches and about 25 years old. The dog owner didn't leash the dog until the grandmother began calling police on her phone.
