Massive Wreck in Hyde Square, as Reported By Jamaica Plain Residents

Neighborhood residents took to JP Patch and social media to share photos about a wreck that knocked down a light pole, damaged a store front and flipped a truck.

UPDATE, 3:11 p.m. — Police have issued citations for speeding and other offenses to the pole-snapping Bronco flipper allegedly responsible for this wreck.

UPDATE, 12:08 p.m. — A worker at Fat Ram's Pumpkin Tattoo credits the Ford Bronco that was flipped over with saving their storefront.

Hyde Square was the scene of a wreck that knocked down a light pole, flipped a truck and damaged a store front.

JP Patch will be in touch with authorities this morning with more on this wreck, which happened about 1 a.m., according to JP resident and writer Sam Nickerson. Here's the text of a report he made by posting a blog on JP Patch:

Around one in the morning on October 22nd, a small silver sedan struck two stationary cars—a white pickup truck and a vintage SUV—parked out in front of Fat Ram's Pumpkin Tattoo on Centre Street, causing the SUV to flip onto the sidewalk.

According to the owner of the white pickup truck, the driver was alert and tried to restart his car after the crash.  Witnesses on the opposite side of the street said the driver, a man, was taken in an ambulance shortly after.  Police officers warned the 20 or so bystanders to keep back due to the risk of live wires.

Via Twitter, a user with the handle @RADSkillz posted amazing photos of the wreck's aftermath. I've attached one to this post. For more, follow him on Twitter or visit his Web site.

Fat Rams. The driver actually got into the passenger side of the car and kept trying to get out before the cops arrived, and continued when the first cop showed up and yelled at him to stay put

Oh now, that poor old Bronco got flipped over! I see that thing all the time and have always thought it was a cool car.

I knew it had to be the Bronco. That's so sad. Glad no one was seriously injured!
