Man Charged After Aug. Scooter Theft

A Brockton man was spotted over the weekend, and identified as having had received a stolen scooter in August.

A Brockton man was arrested over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend after police recognized him as having had received a stolen scooter in August.

Police identified Jerome Q. Meade of 8 Fairbanks Road, Brockton on Wayland Street in Dorchester Nov. 23 where he was charged with receiving stolen property for an incident which occurred Aug. 23, according to a police report.

Meade was pulled over on Washington St. near Egleston Square Aug. 23 after a police officer on patrol observed him make a right turn on a red light before coming to a full stop on his scooter, according to the report.

The officer learned the scooter was unregistered, had the scooter towed and issued Meade a citation.

After an investigation, the Boston Police Auto Theft Unit later informed the officer that the scooter had been stolen from 24 Royce Road, Allston.

Police issued a criminal citation for Meade and a warrant was issued on Nov. 7 out of Roxbury District Court.
