Loiterer Arrested After Trying to Strike Cop

The following police arrest information was supplied by the Boston Police Department. Arrest does not indicate a conviction.

A drunk man known to police was taken to jail earlier this week after he tried to fight a police officer, calling him vulgar names and, while in a fighting pose, asking if he’d “like the right or the left.”

Eduardo Hurtado, of 44 Harrison Ave., Boston was charged with assault and battery on a police officer, trespassing and disorderly conduct Tuesday night. Hurtado made several punching motions toward an officer, on duty in the parking lot of the CVS at 704 Centre St., and then began to shout vulgarities at him, according to a police report.

The officer told Hurtado several times to stop or he’d be placed under arrest, according to the report. Hurtado, who was allegedly intoxicated, then began to kick snow at the officer.

Hurtado is known to be disruptive in the area, and several passersby told the officer he had been verbally and physically offensive.

After Hurtado had been read his Miranda rights at the E-13 District Station, he said to the arresting officer, “You lucky you didn’t catch me before I went inside, you would have had a six-shooter,” according to the report.
