Jose Guzman will serve one year in state prison after his guilty plea.

A Jamaica Plain man will serve time in state prison after her pleaded guilty to several child pornography charges Monday.

Jose Guzman, 42, was charged with two counts of dissemination or possession of obscene matter, two counts of dissemination of child pornography (2 counts) and possession of child pornography, according to a statement from Attorney General Martha Coakley. Guzman will serve one-year in state prison and five years on probation following the prison sentence. Guzman must also undergo sex offender evaluation and treatment, can not have any contact with children under 16 years of age, and cannot use the Internet except for work related reasons.

Guzman distributed the material on a file-sharing network, according to the statement.

“This defendant not only used his computer to obtain images and video files containing child pornography, he also shared the material over the Internet,” AG Coakley said in the statement. “This defendant will be serving time in state prison for exploiting children, a serious and disturbing offense.”

Guzman was arrested Jan. 31, 2011 at this Jamaica Plain residence. Authorities searched his apartment and found “numerous videos of child pornography,” the statement said.

Guzman was tried in West Roxbury District Court. The case was prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Timothy Wyse, of AG Coakley’s Cyber Crime Division and was investigated by Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Attorney General’s Office and investigators from the AG’s Computer Forensics Lab.
